Technology
At Endodontic Specialists, we are committed to providing you with a positive experience in our state-of-the-art office. We invest heavily in new technology and our doctors and staff undergo frequent Continuing Education in an effort to optimize patient care. Some new technologies we are using are described below
Digital Radiography
A series of x-rays are routinely taken during Endodontic Treatment. Our Digital Radiography System produces images with superior diagnostic clarity while reducing radiation exposure by greater than 90% as compared with traditional film-based x-rays. The digital images are generated instantaneously so there is no waiting time, and can be manipulated as needed with our computer software. They can also be easily sent electronically to your general dentist’s office. There is no need for chemical fixers and developers with this technology, making it very environmentally friendly!
Limited Field Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)
Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) is a three-dimensional imaging modality used in certain cases when more information is needed than can be rendered from a two dimensional x-ray. Our limited field CBCT machine is capable of generating a high-resolution three-dimensional image of the area of interest with significantly less radiation exposure than larger field units. The image can then be manipulated with our computer software to provide virtually unlimited views of the tooth and surrounding areas.
Dental Operating Microscopes
All six of our operatories are equipped with Dental Operating Microscopes outfitted with xenon fiber optic illumination, which provide our doctors with a highly magnified view of the internal anatomy of your tooth. This enables them to see small details, such as accessory canals and fractures that could otherwise go undetected.
Electronic Medical Records
All patient information, including digital x-rays, is maintained in our secure computer system, which ensures confidentiality of your health information and reduces our use of paper.
Infection Control
We follow the rigorous infection control protocols mandated by OSHA, the Centers for Disease Control, the American Association of Endodontists and the American Dental Association. Our doctors and staff undergo yearly continuing education seminars to make sure we are adhering to the most up-to-date autoclave sterilization practices and barrier techniques.
